With its decision from December 2017, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) upholds ROVALMA’s patent on High-Thermal-Conductivity Hot work steels with thermal conductivities >42 W/mK, thereby rejecting the petition submitted by Böhler-Edelstahl GmbH & Co. KG in 2014 to cancel the ROVALMA patent.

Based on this decision, we advise tool steels buyers and users when offered this kind of products by other providers to check if the products are in conflict with ROVALMA patents on High Thermal Conductivity hot work steels and hence possibly present a legal infringement of ROVALMA’s patent rights.
